New Technology Offers Additional Insight Using Cell Differentiation
The reality is that without the proper equipment, doctors have no true way to qualify what’s actually in the syringe in terms of stem cells. In the past, we’ve used a bedside machine that would spin the stem cells to separate them and then we used a laser to evaluate density to help qualify what was actually in the syringe. Previously when we were qualifying what was in the syringe we were only able to use red blood cell count to determine the quality of the cells.
Thanks to a significant investment in new lab equipment from Greyledge Technologies, The Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine now offers a full cell differentiation with an analyzer that gives us 26 different data points so that we’re absolutely sure of what’s in the syringe that we’re using as opposed to the 1 data point using red blood cell count, which is what was the best possible option prior to this new technology being released.
