October – Stem Cell Awareness Month

Stem cells are the ‘superhero’ cells within our bodies that are capable of transforming into any other type of cell that our body needs. Most people associate stem cells with newborns, but our bodies are capable of producing stem cells for most of our lives. Stem cells are vital to a major percentage of our bodily functions, and in particular the repair and rejuvenation of tissue.

October has been designated ‘Stem Cell Awareness Month’ and as part of this, the Stem Cell Network – a organization that supports stem cell research and is attempting to create a national and then global network of interested parties in all fields relating to stem cells and their advantages – is creating a new outreach campaign via social media using the hashtag #WeAreStemCells and the message:

An investment in stem cell research is an investment in the future.

The goal of the campaign is to encourage more support for stem cell research.

How Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine is Advancing Stem Cell Research

At MCRM we’re working extremely hard to advance the field of regenerative medicine because of the positive outcomes we’ve seen with many of our patients. One of the ways that we’re advancing this powerful and cutting edge field of medicine is through our work with DataBiologics. If you’re not familiar with DataBiologics, it is a platform that enables patient data collection so that regenerative medicine procedures can be tracked like never before. This robust dataset allows patients and providers to track positive outcomes from participating regenerative medicine clinics like MCRM all across the country. We’re extremely proud of our alliance with DataBiologics and feel strongly that this level of transparency is great for our practice, as well as our patients.

Laboratory Alliance with Greyledge Has MCRM Poised for the Future

In addition to our alliance with DataBiologics, we also are working with Greyledge, which is a leading edge provider of regenerative medicine laboratory equipment and personnel. This allows us to use the latest regenerative medicine tools and technology to prepare and deliver the highest quality stem cells to our patients. Our Greyledge powered laboratory is located inside our Rochester, MI clinic which means that our board certified doctors and laboratory staff work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
