Dr. Christopher Hannasch Brings Osteopathic Expertise to Regenerative Medicine

The Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine is thrilled to welcome Dr. Christopher Hannasch to our team of regenerative medicine specialists. With over a decade of experience in neuromusculoskeletal medicine, combined with advanced training in osteopathic manipulative medicine, Dr. Hannasch brings a unique hands on approach that perfectly complements our philosophy of helping patients heal naturally and avoid invasive procedures.

A Foundation in Osteopathic Medicine

Dr. Hannasch completed his medical training with a focus on the neuromusculoskeletal system. For the past ten years, he has served on the faculty at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, combining clinical practice with teaching the next generation of physicians. While he gained experience in clinical leadership roles, Dr. Hannasch discovered his true passion lies in direct patient care.

What sets Dr. Hannasch apart is his extensive background in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). This hands-on approach uses palpation and manual techniques to assess and treat muscles, bones, soft tissues, and nerves. Through skilled palpation, Dr. Hannasch can diagnose impaired or altered function throughout the body and use manual treatments to restore proper biomechanics. His ability to feel and assess what’s happening within the body accelerates diagnosis and allows for more precise, targeted treatments.

Why Regenerative Medicine?

Dr. Hannasch’s journey to regenerative medicine began with dissatisfaction with conventional pain management. While trained in interventional injections during his career, he found that traditional steroid injections merely masked pain rather than addressing underlying problems. This didn’t align with his osteopathic philosophy of supporting the body’s natural healing mechanisms.

He recognized that regenerative medicine represents the most osteopathic approach possible – utilizing the body’s own healing mechanisms rather than simply masking symptoms. After researching regenerative medicine practices throughout Michigan, he identified the Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine as the best in the state. For the past two years, Dr. Hannasch has trained extensively in interventional spine procedures and regenerative treatments, preparing to bring his unique skill set to our team.

A Patient-Centered Philosophy

The osteopathic approach differs from traditional medicine in its patient-centered focus. Rather than simply treating diseases, osteopathic medicine treats the whole person, considering how structure affects function throughout the body. This holistic perspective makes Dr. Hannasch particularly effective at identifying root causes of pain and dysfunction.

Throughout his career in osteopathic manipulative medicine, Dr. Hannasch has helped countless patients avoid invasive procedures. Now, with advanced regenerative treatments available, he can take that mission even further. The ability to treat conditions like rotator cuff tears, meniscal tears and arthritis non-surgically aligns perfectly with his osteopathic philosophy and tradition of supporting natural healing processes.
