What to Expect in Your First Regenerative Medicine Consultation

Suppose you’ve decided to schedule a consultation at The Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine with one of our Board-Certified doctors. In that case, there are several things you can do beforehand to maximize your time in our clinic. This blog will outline what you can expect during your first regenerative medicine consultation.

Things To Think About Before Your Regenerative Medicine Consultation

Think about the following questions before your appointment so you’ll be ready to discuss your concerns with one of our doctors:

  • Is your joint pain constant, or does it come and go? – Knowing when your joint pain is at its worst and where you have pain can be helpful when talking with your doctor. If your pain is intermittent, think about what makes it worse and what makes it better.
  • What type of treatments have you tried? – Most people dealing with joint pain have tried several treatments and procedures. Have a list of these with you during your consultation, and make note of those treatments that may have worked and those that provided no pain relief.
  • What surgeries have you had in the past? – Have you had any surgeries related to your joint pain? If so, note these procedures so you can bring them up to your doctor during your first pain management consultation.
  • What medications are you currently taking or have taken in the past? – A medication list is essential because it can dictate how our doctors treat your condition. A list of your current medications, as well as medications that you’ve taken in the past, can be helpful to ensure we understand your overall medical history.

Be Sure to Bring Any Medical Images You Have Related to Your Condition

Suppose you’ve been dealing with joint pain for quite some time. You likely have had images done of your back, knee, hip, shoulder, or other areas where you’re dealing with pain. You must bring these X-rays and MRIs to our office so we can get a complete picture of your condition. While we can order additional imaging if necessary, using your existing images can help us to have a clearer picture of what’s going on and save you from having X-rays or MRIs retaken, which can be time-consuming and expensive.
