"How to Better Understand PRP From A to Z"

Can PRP Regrow Hair for Women and Men?

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a powerful solution for sports injuries and joint pain, but the possibilities do not stop there. PRP has become an amazing resource for hair restoration because it is fast, safe, and proven to work. If you’re exploring hair loss treatments, PRP may be a good fit for you.

PRP Treatment Can Revitalize Dormant Hair Follicles

PRP can regrow hair if the follicle is still viable. Think of your scalp much like an old-school Chia Pet. The follicles are tiny seeds that can grow into the hair. Some seeds go dormant and eventually die off. With PRP treatment, you can keep them awake and productive as long as possible.

PRP Cannot Grow New Hair Follicles

PRP cannot grow hair if the follicle is gone completely. This would be like trying to grow chia sprouts without any seeds. Watering the terracotta figurine of a hedgehog will not produce a fun green turf if there are no seeds to sprout. The same can be said for your scalp with PRP hair restoration.

Alternative Treatments to Regrow Hair

You may need a combination of hair restoration treatments to achieve your goal results. For example, some of our patients go to a hair transplant specialist first to get follicles installed on their scalp. PRP optimizes the volume of hair those follicles produce and keeps them thriving for years to come.

If you like topical hair growth stimulants, you can still use those in conjunction with PRP. This is the equivalent of using teeth whitening toothpaste after getting your teeth whitened at the dentist. PRP is far more effective than over-the-counter products, but you can continue to use those in addition to PRP therapy.

Early Intervention with PRP Is Ideal to Preserve the Hair You Have Left

Hair thinning can start as early as your teenage years. There are many factors that influence hair thickness, ranging from genetics to lifestyle choices to medical conditions.

The best way to preserve hair thickness is with early intervention, as soon as you notice signs of hair loss. Many of the clients we treat are in their 20s. They get routine PRP treatments to maximize the lifespan of their hair follicles. The sooner you seek action, the happier you’ll be with the results.
