Regenerative Medicine Near Northview MI
Regenerative medicine is a natural therapy that helps the human body regenerate damaged tissue in the least invasive way possible. Do you or a loved one suffer from muscle pain, a degenerative condition, or have you suffered an injury that limits mobility and causes pain? Regenerative medicine treatments from the Michigan Center of Regenerative Medicine can reduce discomfort and cleanse some of these issues. Want to know how? Read on to find out.
What Is Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine is a relatively new field of therapy that aims to replace tissue to relieve pain and restore function. The process in which this treatment works is through cellular therapies and tissue regeneration. Our bodies naturally have regenerative qualities, and whether it is a slight cut, bruised muscle, or damaged organ, the human body will attempt to recover. However, on its own, the body does not have the energy or capability to restore everything. That is where regenerative medicine can help. It stimulates the natural restorative functions of areas that need help the most.
All of this is done without the need for surgery and consists of several sessions of injections into affected tissues. Some of the most common uses for regenerative medicine include:
- Bursitis (Fluid sacks filled in the joints)
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Disc Degeneration and Tears
- Golfer’s Elbow and Tennis Elbow (A common sports injury)
- Osteoarthritis
- Herniated Discs
- Osteoarthritis of the knees, hips, back, shoulders, and neck
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Tendon Tears and Tendinitis
Most patients who undergo treatment will need several sessions throughout a period of several weeks. Many begin to feel the positive effects of regenerative medicine treatment and can have relief in as little as a month. Further, continued therapy can see years of pain relief, a method that lasts.

Other Regenerative Medicine Options
Several different sub-types of regenerative medicine work off of similar principles with some other effects and focus. Each of these treatments is available at the Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine and may be recommended by a doctor depending on the type and severity of the conditions.
Cartilage Regeneration- Those with spinal or musculoskeletal conditions can benefit from cartilage regeneration. This is a process in which damaged cartilage is targeted as it does not normally regenerate well on its own and does not contain many blood vessels or a constant blood supply for regeneration. Although, this therapy may be less effective for patients over the age of 55.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy- Platelet-rich therapies are commonly used in sports-related injuries and to regenerate damaged tendons. For PRP therapies, blood is drawn from a patient, placed in a centrifuge, and mixed with a solution to increase the levels of platelets beyond what normal blood contains.
Prolotherapy- Prolotherapies tend to be used by doctors in treating tendon pain in joints and connective tissues. Often this procedure is used to treat the following via an irritant injection:
- Arthritis
- Whiplash
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Joint Damage
- Inflamed Joints
- Other Pains in the back, hands, hips, knees, and shoulders
