Please keep reading to learn how the Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine is revolutionizing how chronic knee pain is treated with our advanced regenerative medicine treatments.

What is Regenerative Medicine?

Regenerative medicine seeks to treat chronic pain at its source by healing, restoring, or regenerating damaged tissues and cells that injuries, chronic diseases, and degenerative conditions have damaged. Unlike other pain management treatment plans that seek only to cover up the pain with powerful medications or invasive surgery that comes with the risk of complications, regenerative medicine is both minimally invasive, well tolerated, and treats pain at its source by healing damaged tissues in the body. For chronic knee pain patients, regenerative medicine is an excellent option for patients undergoing treatment for knee pain for the first time and knee pain patients who have not had success with previous pain management treatment plans at pain clinics. Let’s take a closer look at regenerative medicine treatments and how the Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine can help you control your knee pain levels.

Regenerative Medicine Treatment for Knee Pain In Rochester, MI

The first step towards choosing the ideal regenerative medicine treatment for knee pain patients is to identify the root cause of your knee pain. While the Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine can treat dozens of different conditions and types of injuries that cause knee pain, two of the most common conditions we treat are knee cartilage lesions and meniscus tears. Let’s take a closer look at both of these conditions and how regenerative medicine can restore these areas of damage in the knee to decrease your pain and increase your mobility.

Treatment for Knee Cartilage Lesions

Cartilage plays a critical role in the knee joint by preventing friction from bones rubbing together and absorbing shock from movement. When this tissue is damaged, it can cause bones to rub together, leading to pain, inflammation, and a decreased range of motion. Knee cartilage lesions occur from sudden trauma to the knee, overuse injuries, and aging as our cartilage naturally weakens. Regenerative medicine is an effective treatment option for knee cartilage lesions as it harnesses the power of your body’s own cells that are painlessly harvested from your bone marrow and then infused into the knee, generating a healing response in the knee cartilage.

Treatment for Knee Pain Near Rochester, MI Due to Meniscus Tears

The meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage in the knee that cushions the upper and lower leg bones, preventing friction and absorbing shock. It can be partially or fully torn in active individuals who play sports, those involved in a traumatic injury of the knee, and older adults. Platelet-rich plasma therapy is an effective treatment option to speed up the healing times of meniscus tears by using the body’s platelets and plasma to generate a healing response in the knee.
